IWC Portuguese Regulateur Steel IW5444-01 IW544401

We’re big fans of the Portuguese line here at Watch Vault, having sold many over the years, but the one featured here is perhaps the coolest we’ve come across.

Released in 2007, and only available for a couple of years, this Regulateur version of the Portuguese features a gorgeous art-deco case measuring in at 43mm. The dial is configured in a regulator formation, and is topped with beautiful blued leaf hands. But the real star of the show is on the reverse…flip it over, and you’re greeted with a gorgeous pocket watch movement. Nicely finished, and stunning to look at, it is also special as it harks back to the origins of the Portuguese as the original oversized wristwatch created to accommodate the more accurate pocket watch movements of the time. Very cool.

This particular piece was first sold locally in 2008 and presents in TZ good condition. The case shows some light scratches and small dings/nicks which takes the grading down to ‘good’ on our scale, but in reality is very clean for its age and would be rated at Excellent if not for the small dings.  Please see images for full condition details.

Serviced by an independent watchmaker about 5 years ago according to the previous owner, it’s running at COSC specs at over 340 degrees of amplitude which would back that up.

These are quite rare on the secondary market, so grab this excellent local example while you can.
