Parmigiani Tonda 1950 Lune Steel PFC284-0001400-XA1442 – 2019

Parmigiani Fleurier are not particularly well known among casual watch enthusiasts, but to hard-core collectors they are renowned for their stunning movements and amazing manufacturing breadth, supplying parts to many watch companies and are one of the few companies with the ability to create their pieces totally in-house.

Of all the timepieces they create, the Tonda 1950 line has always been the one that sang to us. This particular piece is the Tonda Lune, featuring an absolutely gorgeous 39mm steel case with the most fantastic lugs. Housed within that case is a deep black dial with applied markers, date window at 6, and beautifully presented moonphase at 12 which takes into account the phases of the moon in both the northern and southern hemispheres. Parmigiani’s trademark delta hands are lume-filled, making this piece an elegant dress piece with practicality in mind.

The star of the show, next to those lugs of course, is the in-house PF708 micro-rotor movement. If it looks familiar, it’s also because it powers the lovely Hermes Slim’d’Hermes pieces. Measuring just 4mm thick, it allows the watch to remain under 10mm in thickness even with the moonphase module in place.

It’s mounted to an Alligator strap with steel double-fold deployant.

This particular piece was sold new locally in July 2019, and presents in TZ Mint condition. The case shows only the very lightest hints of use in the form of some hairlines. Please see images for full condition details.
