Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust Steel/Gold 36mm Linen Dial 1601 - 1978

Here we have a gorgeous vintage Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust 1601 up for grabs.

Featuring a classic 36mm steel case with white gold bezel, steel Jubilee bracelet, white linen dial with gorgeous applied markers, and is powered by the venerable 1575 movement. It makes for a versatile and elegant piece, and one it that is now starting to become extremely popular with collectors and those wanting to take their first steps into the world of vintage Rolex.

This particular example dates from 1978 and presents in excellent vintage condition. The original dial is in fantastic condition. Tritium lume plots show degradation, with some fully intact and others completely eroded. Hands are genuine service replacement Super-luminova items. Plexiglass is in wonderful condition with only very light marks. Correct open 6’s and 9’s on the datewheel.

Original case has been polished, but retains plenty of life. Numbers clearly visible between the lugs. See images for full condition details.

Bracelet is a 62510 with 555 endlinks which is era-correct, and has 15 links and 2 spares. Shows some stretch consistent with age.

Unknown service history. Winds very smoothly, and is currently running at +8 seconds per day at 285 degrees of amplitude.

Comes with outer box, inner box, card holder, manuals and aftermarket leather strap. No papers.

These linen dials are one of the coolest from the Rolex back catalogue, and are gaining quite a following. Grab one while you can.
