Here we have another magnificent tool watch from the masters at Sinn.
The Sinn 856 UTC is their GMT, and has always been a favourite of ours. That case is made of tegimented steel and measures in at 40mm. Tegiment is a hard coating applied to the steel, taking it’s hardness from 220 vickers for regular non-hardened steel to 1200 vickers making it far more scratch resistant than most watches. It also gives the case and bracelet it’s deep grey satin finish.
Power comes from the tried and tested ETA 2893-2, meaning ease of service and reliability. The second time zone function is operated via the crown, and is very readable and easy to use. On top of that, it also features Sinn’s Ar dehumidifying technology to keep moisture away from the movement, and is also anti-magnetic. A proper tool watch in the truest sense of the word.
This particular example was purchased new locally in 2011 and presents in TZ Good condition. Due to the hardened case, scratching is minimal. There’s a few very small dings around the bezel which downgrades it from Excellent to Good according to the TZ scale. Otherwise there are only some rub marks on the case back. Service history is unknown. Currently running at -2 seconds per day at 285 degrees of amplitude.
