Laine Gelidus GG Custom - 2019

A darling of the Indie world, Finnish-born Master Watchmaker Torsten Laine’s eponymous brand has been creating stunning pieces since 2016.

Known for their lovely hand finished movement and amazing in-house dials, this particular piece is known as the GG standing for Gelidus (the line of watches) and Guilloche.  

The case is made of stainless steel and measures in at 40.5mm, with a 49.5mm lug-to-lug measurement and presents in superb condition with only hairlines and light scratches visible.

While the case is undoubtedly superb, the real magic of Laine lies in the dial and movement, and both of these have been customised for this example.

The watch was originally delivered with a grey dial that features a guilloche engine-turned wave pattern with Arabic numerals that is usually associated with the GG line. The original owner then commissioned Laine to create a custom salmon dial with frosted finish, and amazing Chinese oracle bone numerals. It’s topped with purple hands and the affect in person is absolutely spectacular. The original dial is also included with the watch, along with another set of hands so the new owner can choose which they prefer, or alternate between them when they’d like to change the look up.

Along with the custom dial, the hand-wound LA18.1 movement was also customed with a dragon motif that is very, very cool. Along with this the movement is finished with Laine’s usual extremely high standard of movement finishing with black polished screw heads, hand polished chamfers and frosted finishing throughout.

Originally purchased in 2019, it includes outer box, inner box, original dial, original hands, warranty card dated October 2019 and Watch Vault cleaning cloth.
