Omega Speedmaster Mark 40 3520.53

The Mark 40 has been rediscovered over the past few years, due to the 'Hodinkee effect'. It's widely known as the inspiration for Ben Clymer's interest in watches, and the catalyst for the creation of Hodinkee, and subsequently Hodinkee's 10th anniversary homage to the Mark 40.

Regardless of the Hodinkee ties, the Mark 40 is a strong contender for future classic in its own right. Featuring a 39mm case, triple calendar complication and pops of red, blue and yellow on the dial, it makes for an extremely wearable and fun watch on the wrist.

This particular example is in very good vintage condition. Lugs show marks from strap changes. Case shows some scratches, and a few small dings and nicks. External AR coating is fairly scratched as per usual - most people have this removed. Please see images for full details of condition.

Was serviced in July 2019 by Prestige Watch Repairs in Sydney. Movement is running strongly at 287 degrees of amplitude, though could use a regulation as it’s keeping time around -20 secs per day. All functions operating as they should.

Currently mounted on an Italian Colareb leather strap.
