Rolex Submariner 5513 - 1987

When pressed for an answer on what would be their one-watch collection, it’s not a stretch to think that most watch collectors who’ve been around for long enough would struggle to go past a Rolex Submariner 5513 or 1680, and for very good reason. They are perhaps the most iconic watch design of all time.

This particular example hails from circa-1987, and presents in excellent vintage condition. Case has had a few polishes before, but retains plenty of meat. Clear numbers between the lugs.

Bezel is original, and has an ever so slightly faded blue hue in some lights.

Dial is original, as are the hands and bezel, and all are uniform in colour.

Case back stamped as 5512, which was not uncommon for 5513’s.

Serviced by a previous retailer in 2018, it winds ultra-smoothly and is running at COSC timing. Plexi was been replaced with a domed item at this service, and shows some small marks.

Bracelet is the original 93150 with 10 links, and 580 endlinks. Clasp is stamped with a J3-serial, dating it to 1985. Minimal stretch.

Comes with outer box, inner box, certificate of authenticity and service receipt from previous retailer, hang tags, anchor, garantie manual, instruction manual and Watch Vault cleaning cloth.
