Azimuth Mr. Roboto R2

Domo Arigato, Mr Roboto. Welcome to the wild world of Azimuth, folks! Azimuth is an independent watch company formed in 2003, and based in Switzerland that is known for it’s avante garde designs, making watches that are anything but ordinary. Think MB&F on a budget, and you’ve got a good idea of what to expect from Azimuth.

The piece we have here is known as the Mr Roboto R2, and is designed purely for fun. Evoking the classic tin Robot aesthetic so loved by Sci-Fi fans, the Roboto 2 builds on the groundbreaking Roboto 1 with two half-dome eyes, using curved hands to indicate the hours on the left, and a GMT function on the right. The mouth indicates retrograde minutes, and looking all the world like a vintage car radio. Super cool!

These eyes and mouth are set into a steel case with carbon mid-case, measuring in at 47.5 x 55mm. The rear gives a view into the Azimuth calibre 1500.2 with automatic winding, giving some practicality to what is an entirely impractical watch.

This particular piece was originally sold in 2016 and presents in TZ near mint condition. There’s a few small marks on the polished surfaces from sparing wear, a rub mark on the back, and a very small mark on the left side of the steel case. Please see images for full condition details.
