Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre Unique Travel Time (UTT) Q6062520 - 2016

Perhaps the best value high complication watch out there on the secondary market today, the Duometre series from JLC is serious haute horology. Featuring their Dual-Wing concept, the movement features two barrels and two geartrains, regulated by a single escapement. The first mainspring is wound turning the crown counter-clockwise, and powers the complications. The second powers the time keeping and is wound by turning the crown clockwise, which combined allows for more accurate and steady timekeeping with the complications running.

The Duometre comes in several variations, and the version we have here is known as the Unique Travel Time, and is the most complicated of the Duometre series other than the ultra-high complication movements such as the Spherotourbillion or Grand Sonnerie. Featuring 498 parts in it’s highly complex cal.383 movement with high beat rate of 28,800vph and a free sprung balance, it allows the user to have dual times running on the dial at the same time. While this isn’t new, the way that the Duometre operates is. The home time on the right of the dial is set using the crown at its fully out position, which in turn also moves the minute hand of the local time on the left. As well as that, the minute hand of the travel time can also be decoupled from the home time, and set completely independently allowing times to be set in zones which would not usually be catered for on a regular travel or world time watch ie Adelaide here in Australia.

At the base of the dial you’ll see a spectacularly executed domed world disc. This is the GMT indicator utilised with the push buttons on the side of the case, allowing you to set the GMT zone for the travel/local time indicator. The shaded area surrounding this then indicates whether your local time is in day or night. Both times can be synced up to home time, and you then benefit from watching the ultra-cool jump hour in action all day long.

This particular piece was first sold in 2016, and presents in TZ Near Mint condition. The watch was fully serviced by JLC in December 2022, and has only been worn half a dozen times since then. The case is virtually free from marks, other than a few shallow indents just inboard of the upper pusher. These are the reaons for a ‘near mint’ rather than ‘mint’ grading. Comes on a basically new brown JLC ‘gator strap in 120/75 size, fitted to a JLC tang buckle in rose gold.

Keeping COSC time, and all function operating as they should. Remains under JLC service warranty until December 2024.
