Longines Ultra-Chron Box Edition L2.836.4.52.9

Longines is on an absolute roll at the moment, delving into their vast back catalogue and uncovering gems like this. A revival of the famous mid-century high frequency Ultra-Chron line, this modern iteration hits the nail on the head and gives us exactly what a modern re-issue should; vintage aesthetics with modern build quality and reliability.

The case of this updated Ultra-Chron measures in at 43mm x 13.6mm, is constructed in steel, and is beautifully finished a combination of brushed and polished surfaces. Within this 300m water-resistant case lies a fabulous grained black dial with applied quarter markers, amazing applied Ultra-Chron logo, applied Longines logo, and a red minutes hand that really picks up the red in the bezel and adds some welcome contrast.

The 120-click bezel is pretty special, as it's constructed in steel but utilises a sapphire insert and is lumed at the zero-marker triangle, as well as at the 15, 30, and 45-minute markers; the rest of the fully graduated scale on the bezel is slightly recessed and filled with red lacquer. Very cool. Powering it is the high-beat caliber L836.6, designed exclusively for Longines in collaboration with ETA, that runs at 10 beats per second, and features a silicon balance spring and an antimagnetic escape wheel and anchor. It's Ultra-Chronometer spec means it is certified COSC while the movement is cased within the watch, not outside of it like regular COSC certification. To finish it off its mounted to a steel bracelet that is both brushed and polished, and as this is the 'Box' edition it also includes a nato-style Longines strap.

This piece was first sold in August 2022, and presents in TZ Very Good condition. Has been worn, so shows some scratching and scuffs, with the largest being a scuff on the left side of the case, and a few more above thee crown on the right side. The polishes areas show some scratching. There's a few small scratches on the caseback, and lugs show marks from strap changes. There's also a very small nick on the outer edge of the crystal near 12. Please see images for full condition details.

The bracelet is currently sized for a roughly 7.6in wrist, with spare links included to complete it. Shows some desk diving marks on the buckle and lower links.
