Nivada Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver Chronoking Date 87033

Produced between 1963 and 1978, the Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver range of watches from Nivada were a range of super-cool dive Chronos from the peak period of tool watches. They came in a few different variations, with the most commonly seen being the no-date with chrono registers at 3 and 9, and then another with a date window at 12, known as the Chronoking, which is the watch we have here today.

It utilises a 38mm case made in steel, which back in its day was water resistant to 200m. Atop this case sits a large bi-directional bezel surrounding a domed acrylic crystal. Within this lies a beautiful matte black sterile dial, which means it does without 'Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver' written on it for a much cleaner look. It features an internal tachy scale, date at 12, tritium markers and lovely mirrored sub-registers for running seconds and 45 minute counter.

Powering it is the fantastic Valjoux 234 manual wind chronograph, and its mounted to a beads of rice bracelet with Nivada signed clasp. Will fit up to a 7.5in wrist.

The case is thick and sharp, with excellent finishes and strong lines. Shows wear commensurate with its age. Bezel is in excellent condition with minimal wear, and rotates as it should. Domed acrylic crustal shows some scratching.

Dial is in spectacular condition with no stains or scratches present. Plots are all in place, with very little degradation present. All light up and drop off at the same rate under UV. Tritium hands are full, and show some light degradation under UV.

Service history is unknown. Winds smoothly, date changes over at midnight. Chrono operates a sit should. Currently keeping time at around +28 secs a day at around 245 degrees of amplitude.
