Seiko SLA051J1 Prospex Diver Uemura 44mm

Created by Seiko to honour Naoki Uemura, one of the greatest Japanese explorers of the modern era, the SLA051 is a modern interpretation of the watch he wore, the 6105. The 6105 is also known as the ‘Willard’, so this reference is also a variant of the modern ‘Willard’ pieces such as the SLA033 and SPB151 and 153, but for the launch of the SLA051 they chose to concentrate on the real life hero that is Naoki Uemura. It’s an amazing tool watch that harks back to one of the greatest pieces ever produced by Seiko.

Featuring a super-hard 44mm steel case, it houses a textured grey dial with applied luminous markers, steel luminous hands, and is surrounded by a 120-click uni-directional bezel that’s super-slick to operate like the best Seiko’s are, and it’s powered by the famed 8L35 movement.

This particular example was first sold in September 2022 and presents in TZ Near Mint condition, with only very light signs of use. Please see images for full condition details.

Bracelet is fully linked. Buckle shows some light desk diving marks, as do a couple of the links.

All functions operating as they should, and keeping time at about +11 secs per days at high 200’s amplitude.
