YEMA Speedgraf ‘Daytona’

Yema is not a particularly well-known brand amongst most watch enthusiasts, though that is starting to change with the brand starting to re-release classic models. While some may assume they are just vintage-inspired, the fact is that Yema have a rich and deep history in watchmaking. In fact, they were the first company to produce a French-made automatic chronometer. Along with the Yachtingraf, perhaps their most famous vintage Chrono is the Speedgraf we have here, affectionately known by collectors as the ‘Yema Daytona’.

The 39mm steel case presents in excellent vintage condition. Shows clear signs of its age and history, but the case remains thick and lugs even.

The reverse panda matte dial is spectacular, with its silver sub-dials with concentric pattern, applied indices with tritium inserts, and outer rail road track minutes. It’s in wonderful condition, with all plots in place and retaining its tritium. Glows brightly under UV. Shows only light spotting and minor discolouration.

Case back is stamped 9312.

Powering it is the Valjoux 7730 hand-wound chronograph. Service history is unknown. Winds smoothly, all chrono functions operating as they should. Timed at around +45 secs per day at 243 degrees of amplitude.
