Azimuth Twin Turbo - 2020

Welcome to the wild world of Azimuth, folks! Azimuth is an independent watch company formed in 2003, and based in Switzerland that is known for it’s avante garde designs, making watches that are anything but ordinary. Think MB&F HM series on a budget, and you’ve got a good idea of what to expect from Azimuth.

The piece we have here is known as the Twin Turbo, and is their take on a dual time zone drivers watch. The heavily sculpted steel case is inspired by the free flowing forms of 60’s race cars, with the twin dials evoking the design language seen in the gauges during this period.

Pop the top clamshell open, and the whole thing feels very ‘Miura’!

It’s twin dials are actually powered by two movements, allowing them to be set individually for its dual time zone functionality. The movements are vintage ETA 2512-2 manual wind units from the 60’s. Setting the time and winding is made easier with the aforementioned top clamshell allowing access to the twin-crowns. This clamshell is particularly cool in that it gives an aesthetic element to the watch that feels very interactive, practical, and when closed makes the crowns evoke the image of vintage race car fuel filler caps.

This particular piece was sold locally in July 2020 and presents in TZ near mint condition. There’s a few small marks on the polished surfaces from sparing wear in a large collection, but that’s about it. Please see images for full condition details.

Limited to 88 units in each colour, they’re certainly a rare sight and a very cool addition to any car fanatics collection.
